Start 'Em / Bench 'Em - Week 10

We are in the home stretch of the fantasy season and every win matters to get your team in playoff position.  Read on and get the insight you need to win as we present the week 10 Start 'Em / Bench 'em.

Buffalo @ Indianapolis
Peyton does not make the same mistakes as Favre and tears Buffalo up.  Buffalo will counter with trying to run, but to run with the Colts you need to score a lot of points.  The Colts could have a letdown game in this spot, but Buffalo is not at a level that could take advantage of it.  The Colts are favored by 12 to 13 points in this one, but the level of play will drop with after beating New England.  Thomas runs for 123 yards and a TD and Evans catches 1 TD.  Wayne grabs 1 TD, and Clark does too, Addai establishes himself as the man and Indy wins by 10.

Start ‘em – P. Manning, M. Harrison, R. Wayne, J. Addai, A. Thomas, L. Evans, D. Clark
Bench ‘em – J. P. Losman, D. Rhodes, P. Price

San Francisco @ Detroit
One of these teams will have a 2 game winning streak for the first time this year.  Detroit won a big game last week over Atlanta and San Fran beat Minnesota.  Detroit is favored by 6 in this on and we think that this will be a game where plenty of fantasy points are handed out.  Kevin Jones has become a fantasy stud this year and teams that have him will get 163 combined yards and 1-2 TD’s this week, Roy Williams will rack up the yardage and get 1 TD.  Frank Gore should get some decent yardage and probably a score.

Start ‘em – J. Kitna, R. Williams, K. Jones, F. Gore, A. Bryant
Bench ‘em – M. Furrey, A. Battle, E. Johnson
Marginal – A. Smith

San Diego @ Cincinnati
San Diego’s D has shown serious weakness over the past few weeks and this was what kept Cleveland in the game last week.  The Bengals are up against the wall and the Chargers need to keep pace.  Expect a big day from LT and Rudi Johnson.  This could be a good week for T.J. Houshmandzadeh as well.  Cincy is favored in this matchup and could win by putting the Chargers in an early hole.

Start ‘em – C. Palmer, R. Johnson, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, L. Tomlinson, A. Gates
Bench ‘em – C. Henry, E. Parker, K. McCardell
Marginal – P. Rivers, C. Johnson

Baltimore @ Tennessee
Baltimore is favored by a TD in this one, but do you get that feeling that this is a game that the Ravens could be overlooking?  Even if it is it is an outside chance that Tennessee has enough weapons to do anything about it.  Vince Young will wish Kerry Collins was playing after the first quarter.

Start ‘em – S. McNair, T. Heap, D. Mason, J. Lewis, Ravens D, B. Scaife
Bench ‘em – M. Clayton, V. Young, D. Bennett

Cleveland @ Atlanta
Look for Atlanta to dominate this one by running with Dunn and Vick and maybe even Norwood.  Cleveland played better last week, but with Atlanta coming off a bad loss to Detroit, it is a homecoming that they should play well in.  Don’t expect much in the way of Ruben Droughns running, but with little in the way of an effective pass rush expect Frye to be able to hit Jurevicius, Edwards and Winslow.

Start ‘em – W. Dunn, A. Crumpler, M. Vick, K. Winslow, B. Edwards
Bench ‘em – M. Jenkins, A. Lelie, J. Jurevicius, R. Droughns
Marginal – C. Frye

Washington @ Philadelphia
Fresh off a last second win against Dallas, Washington is riding high.  The Eagles are returningfrom a bye week that had them reflect on 3 straight losses and a 4-4 record.  Andy Reid has never lost off a bye week and the Eagles are favored by a TD.  From the last 3 games played by the Eagles, we can not understand the spread.  Expect a heavy dose of Portis as Gibbs continues to expose the Philly run D.  The Eagles will try to get back to the high scoring offense that had them winning 4 games and wil look to score early to neutralize Portis.

Start ‘em – C. Portis, C. Cooley, D. McNabb, B. Westbrook, R. Brown, D. Stallworth, L. J. Smith
Bench ‘em – B. Lloyd, A. Randel El, M. Brunell, H. Baskett

Green Bay @ Minnesota
Minnesota was embarrassed last week and will look to right the ship against the Packers.  The Packers mistakes cost them the game against Buffalo.  Brad Johnson went from Mr. cool and accurate to Mr. Favre in the last 3 weeks – Farve has also returned to his mistake prone self.  Expect the Vikings to pound Chester Taylor and throw high percentage passes to get Johnson back in sync.   The Packers will try to run Green and hope that Favre makes better decisions.

Start ‘em – C. Taylor, T. Taylor, M. Robinson, G. Jennings
Bench ‘em – B. Favre, B. Franks, B. Johnson, D. Martin
Marginal – A. Green, D. Driver, T. Williamson

N.Y. Jets @ New England
Poor Jets, they are 10.5 point underdogs and traveling to New England where Tom Brady had one of his worst games last week.  Expect the Patriots to pound the Jets and take out their frustration of losing to the Colts on them.   Jets had 2 weeks to prepare for this one and we will see what kind of strategist Mangini is this week.  With Harrison sidelined – look for Pennington tot expose the secondary if given time.

Start ‘em – C. Pennington, L. Coles, T. Brady, B. Watson, D. Gabriel, C. Dillon, L. Maroney
Bench ‘em – J. McCariens, L. Washington, C. Jackson, R. Caldwell
Marginal – C. Baker, J. Cotchery

Kansas City @ Miami
Miami had their Super Bowl last week in beating the Bears.  Can they ride that momentum?  Can they stop Larry Johnson?  The odds makers have the Dolphins as 1 point dogs…that is a bit of respect for a 2-6 team.  This is why they play the games.  Harrington makes too many mistakes and no one can seem to get Chambers involved in the game enough.  Huard has proven capable of winning games so it will come down to how much Miami can contain Johnson to give them a chance.

Start ‘em – L. Johnson, T. Gonzalez, R. Brown, J. Harrington, C. Chambers, R. McMichael
Bench ‘em – W. Welker, S. Parker
Marginal – D. Huard, M. Booker

Houston @ Jacksonville
Didn’t Houston just beat Jacksonville a few weeks ago?  Wasn’t that the loss that got Leftwich replaced?  Wasn’t that the time Jacksonville started its current win streak? Wow, how things have changed.  The Texans barely lost to the Giants last week and could have had a nice upset.  The Jags are looking for revenge for the loss a few weeks ago.  The Jags are 10.5 point favorites in this contest and they are at home so expect them to win this one.

Start ‘em – F. Taylor, M. Jones-Drew, D. Garrard, M. Jones, A. Johnson
Bench ‘em – W. Lundy, R. Williams, E. Wilford, E. Moulds
Marginal – D. Carr, O. Daniels

Denver @ Oakland
The Raiders have firmly planted themselves in the basement of the NFL.  The Broncos will relish this pseudo-bye week and just pound Mike Bell down their throats over and over again.  They will pass when they have to or to mix it up, but the running game will be the focus as Shanahan determines if Mike Bell can tote the load for the remainder of the season.  The Raiders will try anything to get the ball moving and try to not get Walters killed.

Start ‘em – M. Bell, J. Walker, J. Plummer
Bench ‘em – R. Moss, L. Jordan, A. Walters, R. Curry, R. Smith,

St. Louis @ Seattle
St. Louis has been looking for a way to win ever since losing to Seattle 4 weeks ago.  They have been beaten by the Chargers and Chiefs and now have to face Seattle again – albeit an injured Seattle team.   The problem for the Rams over the last few weeks has been the disappearance of T. Holt.  If they can get him involved early and often and pound Steven Jackson then they can stay in this game and win it.  Rams are not as good on the road as they are at home and they are playing outside in a stadium where wind could be a factor.  Seahawks are favored, but expect Morris and Wallace to struggle.  Jackson and Holt should have good games this week and the Rams will win it.

Start ‘em – T. Holt, S. Jackson, M. Bulger, K. Curtis, D. Branch, D. Jackson
Bench ‘em – S. Wallace, M. Morris, N. Burleson, J. Stevens, I Bruce

Dallas @ Arizona
Expect no running game from the Cardinals in this one.  After last weeks loss Dallas should take this one easily, yet they are only 7 point favorites.  Julius Jones will run effectively and Romo will get the job done in the passing game hitting Witten and Owens, Glenn seems to be the odd man out in the Romo era thus far.  Fitzgerald may be back this week and no one will be happier to see him than Matt Leinart.  He is probably so check on his status.

Start ‘em – T. Romo, T. Owens, J. Jones, J. Witten, L. Fitzgerald (probable), A. Boldin
Bench ‘em – M. Leinart, E. James, B. Johnson, T. Glenn

New Orleans @ Pittsburgh
What is going on with the Champs?  Turnovers, turnovers and more turnovers.  They had success last week with the screen and should build off of that and then run and pass to Ward, but they need to protect the ball to win.  New Orleans is the feel good story of the year and these two teams seem to be headed in separate directions. McAllister and Bush will be hard pressed to find running room.  Pittsburgh should be able to wreck New Orleans, but that is not the way this season has gone.  Pittsburgh is actually favored by 4 it was 6.

Start ‘em – D. Brees, M. Colston, J. Horn, H. Ward, W. Parker, N. Washington
Bench ‘em – R. Bush, D. McAllister, B. Roethlisberger , S. Holmes

Playboy

Sunday Night:

Chicago @ N. Y. Giants
The Bears were destroyed last week by the Miami Dolphins because of turnovers caused by the Dolphin pass rush.  Grossman becomes ineffective when hit.  The Giants will not be able to re-produce that pass rush and as such Grossman will have time to find the open man even without Berrian.  The Bears will get to Manning, but the Giants will not get to Grossman.  The Bears should contain Tiki Barber as well.  IT will be up to Plaxico Burress and Shockey to make the difference for the G-men.  This should be a good game to watch.

Start ‘em – E. Manning, P. Burress, J. Shockey, T. Barber, D. Clark
Bench ‘em – A. Toomer, T. Jones, C. Benson, R. Grossman, J. Gage

Monday Night:

Tampa Bay @ Carolina
Tampa was crushed last week and expect more of the same this week as Carolina is coming off a bye week for this divisional match up.   Tampa can not run and can not pass thanks to the horrible offensive line.  Their D is weaker by the week it seems.  Carolina needs to win after going into the bye week with a loss to Dallas.  Look for Steve Smith to have a big night and Keyshawn too.  Delhomme should be bettering this one and get back into a rhythm.

Start ‘em – S. Smith, K. Johnson, J. Delhomme, J. Galloway
Bench ‘em – B. Gradkowski, M. Clayton, C. Williams
Marginal – D. Foster, D. Williams
